Black Forest German Restaurant

We went to the Black Forest German Restaurant in Highgate Hill to celebrate (again) my FILs' 60th. lots of fun was had as we battled through very generous (and very authentic) German fare. (oh yes, they had wild swine - B had it for a main!)

We all started with a beer then I had a ham & pickle salad, a schnitzel with spaetzl and a Schwartzwald Becher for dessert.

Oh wow...I have never eaten sooo much (I had to take half my main home for lunch the next day! LOL)

Canberra Christmas

Canberra Christmas was at Dad's this year and it was heaps fun. Lil sis R1 is really into the spirit of Christmas and helped Santa Nan give away the heap of presents under the tree!

Here's what was waiting for me under the tree when we got home.
(I loved this tea set from the moment I saw them at Oxfam).

Oh and the tiramisu I made for after dins.

Christmas Treats at Work

S made these yummy treats for all of us at work.
They were so yummy (and oh so rummy too...mmmm)!

I made these from the recipes from my MIL for the lovely QAT corner.
They're White Christmas and Rum Balls Boys!

Flutterby's

I was so psyched to make this piece! It's the first ever shadow box work I've ever done. It has pretty blue butterflies and one golden one (the one about to fly off the frame - hehe).

J at work commissioned this work for a Chrissy pressie. I hope the receipient likes it too!

Carols by Candlelight

Mmmmm, Christmas is in the air...these are photos from Carols by Candlelight at Stage 88 on Wednesday. Loved singing with everyone and just having a relaxing time, chilling with the girls from Rotaract.

Dimi's Pieces

QAT Guildies are so talented!
Check out Dimi's pieces we had for dessert!

Christmas with the Gang

B and I hosted the Gang's Christmas lunch this year and it was a blast! I managed to get most of the pressies under the tree and set up Santa's sack for kris kringle just in time too! Whew!
This is the choc mud cake I made for J and S's birthday that we celebrated that day too. Happy  to report that everyone loved how chocolatey and moist it was (oh and they really liked the Cherry Ripes and Maltesers on top too).

Looked good as a centrepiece too. :)
Ahh ready for lunch!

I'm in the Handmade Living Book!

Its like Christmas came early! I could hardly contain myself in the past few days as I have received the first copies of Handmade Living but could not tell everyone yet...but it has finally launched last Saturday at the Handmade Markets here in Canberra!

I'm so excited about this book as one of my crafts (the spotty card) was accepted to be part of it! - I'm on page 129. I know it's only a little picture but it feels like the start of a real crafty adventure for me! The book's pretty awesome, with lots of sections so there's bound to be something for everyone - from knitting, to baking, to sewing and even making your own spa soaks and masques!

I thought I'd share this here too...books will be available at Shop Handmade in the City and then in bookstores after that (There's a few launch events too - please see below, and hope to see you there).

about handmade living.

handmade living. is not about elaborate, complicated or exclusive design. Its essence is centered in whimsy, simplicity and style, and its greatest gift will be in the inspiration to create.

handmade living. has the following sections: nest(crafts for the home), cloth(crafts to sew), closet(craft to wear), adorn(pretty craft), little(craft for the little ones), paper (paper craft), indulge (culinary and spa craft) etc.

T's Dedication Day

It was T's dedication day today and this little man's truly blessed.
Great parents, wonderful extended family...even the sky smiled a big sunny one after days and days of rain!

I made a zucchini slice to help celebrate the day...happy to report, they didn't last long. :b

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Christmas 2010 is upon us! It feels like it came in a blink.
The tree's up and the newsletter's in progress and cards are being made.
I truly enjoyed making the cards (left)  at stamp camp at M's farm on the weekend and couldn't help myself and continued to make more (right) using the lovely materials my sister-in-law P sent for my birthday. Ahhh, wonderful holidays...

Cards

A variety of cards are shown in various parts of the blog. Let me know if anything takes your fancy and we can work together come up with what you need for any occasion.

French Week @ Home

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_5DGv_DMclhY/TN8MddKCryI/AAAAAAAAAPU/JbsOCUimZFM/s320/IMG_1206-733251.JPGFinal week of themed dinners at home. French week was hosted by B and my contribution was this humble apple tart.

I made little single serve ones for home and a  big one for work! It was so cool that it went so fast – I didn’t even get to send out the email to tell everyone about it!

Masquerade

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_5DGv_DMclhY/TN8MzIyuWbI/AAAAAAAAAPk/oA8fpJ2lIMo/s320/IMG_1203-719724.JPGMy friend H was going to a masquerade ball and asked if I could make her  a mask – and I said of course I would! I’ve been wanting to do one up but just haven’t had an opportunity.

I got out the photos we took in San Marco and let myself be inspired by the Venetian style. I wanted to keep this simple but classy so I used felt, feathers, pearls and only a little bit of bling.
