J's Special Birthday Pop-Up Cake

 


I'm quite proud of my very first attempt at a "pop-up" cake. The cake is really a single chocolate cake with two layers that I have popped the middle of to make a second tier. One tier for sharing and the top for the birthday person to take away for later.


I was particularly happy with being able to marzipan and chocolate fondant a sponge cake too! It was an unusual feeling when each smoothing stroke feels real bouncy! You can see the two layers on the left plus M's (who also had birthday in September)!

Wedding Regrets, W & A - for 25 Sept 2010

Made this card to RSVP for cousin W and A's wedding. 

Sadly it was to send our regrets that we could not be with them on such a special day...

Happy Birthday M! - 31 Aug 2010

My very special Nan M celebrated her 79^th birthday this year and I made her this chocolate cake.

I tried my best but nothing can be as special as my nan. XOXO

Nappy cakes are so much fun to make and such a practical present to give new parents (or old parents with new babies)! The two above are for work colleagues and the one below is the very first one I’ve ever made for a dear friend for her firstbaby.
